
Story telling is one of those skills for which there is no real manual. There are plenty of “How To” books out there but how many of them do you really think are effective? So how does one succeed at story telling? In my humble opinion, the first of two answers is the opposite of what one might think.
- Listen – Listen with every fibre of your being to what is unfolding around you as a journalist. You are about to inform the world….you better have heard everything! Listen before you write.
- Be Honest – Inform your audience in an honest and unbiased manner. Egos and opinions are best left at the door.
At the tender age of 55 I have had a chance to see a bit of what goes on in this world of ours. I have been mostly fortunate and have only a few well earned battle scars to show for it. What I know for sure now is that Im ready to embark on the magical world of radio.
